Finding form through time: modern and postmodern architecture in London 1934–2011

A square format print publication that explores urban structure and form through text, illustration, and collage, supplemented by secondary sourced photography.

The publication focuses on 12 buildings in London built between 1942 and 2011 that reflect either modernist ideas or post-modern approaches.

The project included editorial design, illustration, typography, and photo-collage.

The starting point for the project was research that compared the timelines of overlapping movements in graphic design, art, and architecture over the last century. This exercise helped to inform the creation of a graphic response to the structure of each focus building using a combination of abstract illustration and collage. These images show a map of the western part of London, together with 6 of the images created for the book.
